To most Smithtown residents it may seem as if this building was always a restaurant. But to the families who have lived in Smithtown long enough, they may remember it as a thriving hotel. The original structure was built in 1879 as a private home and in 1917 was converted into a hotel & restaurant, aptly named, The Smithtown Hotel.

The arrival of the railroad made Smithtown a destination for tourists and sportsmen and the upstairs rooms served many weary travelers. The bar was a lively gathering place and used as a watering hole for local politicians.

Extra care was taken to safeguard the structure of the original bar and it was carefully refinished and polished to its original soft glow.

As the new proprietors we hope to have preserved the charm and ambiance of the Old Smithtown Hotel, and would like to graciously welcome the residents of Smithtown, and the surrounding areas, to relax and enjoy, as the trains go by...
